IMF/World
Bank Protest
prague september 2000
The first international protest in Europe after the protests which
shut down the World Trade Organisation meeting in Seattle
in November 1999,
the plan was to besiege the IMF and World Bank meeting through a variety
of tactics,
to shut the meeting down.
20 000 activists from across Europe converged
on Prague and were successful in shutting down the meeting a day early.
An indymedia centre was set up to allow protesters to upload to the
web stories, pictures and video of the event, and radio was streamed
out to the world from a small studio in central Prague. Movement of
the Imagination were involved in filming the actions and collectively
pooling the footage to make a film of the protest 'Rebel Colours' which
